Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
