Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
